Six people dead, nineteen people wounded. CBC reports:
A witness who asked to remain anonymous told Radio-Canada that two masked individuals entered the mosque.
"It seemed to me that they had a Québécois accent. They started to fire, and as they shot, they yelled, 'Allahu akbar!' The bullets hit people that were praying. People who were praying lost their lives. A bullet passed right over my head.
"There were even kids. There was even a three-year-old who was with his father," the witness said.
What is happening in our society right now is nuanced and complicated. Who knows why the lowlife, hateful people who committed this crime chose to do what they did?
It could be an aftereffect of Donald Trump's Muslim Ban, maybe since the highest levels of government can discriminate against Muslims, why can't they?
It could be that the people who committed this crime are Muslim themselves, and disagree with the mosque they attacked's specific beliefs.
Whatever. All I know is that what happened was horrific and deplorable. And if we want to stop attacks like this occurring, halting the flow of refugees who need our help the most is not going to prevent religious terrorist attacks like this from happening again.
